Many times pianists will have difficulty knowing what to play once they have identified the chords on a praise chart. Here is a PDF where I have taken four chords of a progression and show 18 different chord patterns that can be used in an accompaniment. Of course there are hundreds of patterns, but this will give an idea on how to get started. Notice the voicing on the R.H. is the same on every line, it is just played in different ways. One of these patterns should not be used for an entire song as a few different ones should be mixed to add variety.
Have you heard about The Hear and Play Zone?...
This is a fabulous web-site for pianists that allows interaction with other musicians around the world. There are many free lessons and advice to be found, but there are also some great courses created by Jermaine Griggs that are aimed at assisting Christian keyboard players in learning contemporary, gospel styles of playing. I highly recommend The Hear and Play Zone and often participate myself in the discussion groups. To sign up and participate is completely free, although there are some in depth courses that may be purchased for further study.
Here is a picture of me and the accompanists that attended my piano workshop at Church Music Explosion 2008 in Seoul, Korea.
